Beaded Jewelry
Beaded jewelry
is a relatively cheap alternative and makes unique and colourful designs.
However, some handcrafted beads can get quite pricey and elaborate.
It all depends on how the beads were made, the designs and the materials.
The good thing about bead work is that any one can become an amateur
jeweller and design their own jewelry as it is relatively simple and
cheap to make jewelry out of beads.
Beaded jewelry comes in the following jewelry
types:
- Bracelets, Earrings and Key Rings
- Pendants, Barrettes and Rings
- Pony tail holders, Zipper Pulls and Belt Buckles
- Charm bracelets
- Body jewelry - toe rings, belly button rings
- Shoe charms and Brooches
Bead patterns - "Do-it Yourself"
There are hundreds of bead patterns
that you can use to create your own unique jewelry. These patterns
can come in specific jewelry styles - i.e., for bracelets and earrings,
and other patterns, for example "Peyote patterns" (a combination
of stitching and beading). These patterns can be found on the Internet
or in books that show you step-by-step how to create your jewelry.
Hand-made beads:
Hand-made beads come from all over the
world and can be pieces of art in and of themselves. These may be hand
blown glass beads, or wooden beads that have been hand painted
or carved. Courses are given on how to make your own beads. These hand-made
beads are more expensive than a factory made ones because of the time
that has to be spent working on them. Making jewelry out of
handmade beads can get quite pricey.
Materials:
- Glass, Pewter, Plastic, Wood, Semi-precious stones
